Affinity: When to use the Affinity Save or Save As button
This button should never be used if you are opening a document from anywhere other than Affinity.
See below examples:
1. You have attached a document from Affinity to an email, and then double-click on the attachment and click "Save" (or close the document and save) after you have made changes before sending.
Doing this will cause Affinity to link to that document in your email attachment and thus break the link.
Correct Action: Update the document in Affinity and then attach it back to the email. Alternatively, use the Affinity “Save As” button to save the file back to Affinity as a new document.
2. You have saved an Affinity document to your desktop or a location other than Affinity. You now make some changes and click the Affinity "Save" button.
Again, doing this will cause Affinity to link to the document on your desktop and break the link to the document within Affinity
Correct Action: Use the Affinity “Save As” button to save the file back to Affinity.
