Outlook Search Options

To Begin a Search

Select the search bar, located above the Outlook ribbon.

You can type the name, subject or phrase directly in the search bar.

You can click the down symbol located in the search bar (after you have selected it), which will give you a drop down box to refine your search.

Chose the 'plus' symbol to do an advanced search.

Alternative

By clicking on the search bar, a search toolbar will open – this can be used to filter and refine the search results if needed

"Refine" lets you filter to a certain sender or messages that have attachments or are categorized.

"Scope" lets you specify where to search—Current Folder (a narrow scope), Current Mailbox, or All Outlook Items (the broadest scope).

To the right of the toolbar you will see "Search Tools".

You can use "Advanced Find" to drill down to finer details of your search.

Use "Search Options" to change your default search settings in Outlook.
