Microsoft 365: Sync Google Chrome Profile


Key Points


You can log into your Google Chrome browser and save your pofile (bookmarks, passwords, history etc.) to the Google Cloud.



Detailed Process


Open Google Chrome and click the Profile button. 


 

In the Profile window, click Turn on sync…

Follow the steps to sign in with a Google account. 


Once signed in, click the Yes I’m in button to begin synchronising your chrome profile.

 

If you do not have a Google account, please follow the below procedure and return to this step once complete.

 

If your Google account already has a saved profile associated with it, the process of "Turn on sync..." will override any bookmarks, passwords, history on your Google Chrome browser. If this occurs and you are wanting to preserve the bookmarks, passwords or history that has been overridden, please contact the Helpdesk who will be able to guide you through the options that you have.


 

Creating a Google Account


Please follow the below process if you do not have a Google or Gmail account, or simply want to keep work and personal account separated.


Navigate to the google signup page https://accounts.google.com/signup and ensure you select “Use my current email address instead


Complete the rest of the form (use a memorable password) and click next.

An email with a verification code will be sent to the address you entered in the above step; you will need to provide that code to complete the setup.


Follow the remaining prompts to complete the setup of your Google Account.
